Mama’s Pride
Because of a genetic malformation, Milo was born with a right eye that couldn’t see. In an unfortunate twist of fate, Milo’s left eye had to be removed in March 2012.
If you’ve ever met a blind cat, you know that once they get the lay of the land, they move around just as well as any sighted kitty. It’s truly amazing!
That certainly was the case with Milo, and he was universally adored by ASPCA staff. But of course, many adopters were a bit wary of adopting a cat who couldn’t see.
Not Joanne M. On the ASPCA Mobile Adoption van the day before Mother’s Day, she saw Milo’s great qualities and fell in love right away.
“He's very sweet, a real lover and craves affection, and despite his blindness, he is curious and adventurous,” Joanne reported the day after she brought Milo home. “We are already in love with him. He is really a blessing and a wonderful and unexpected Mother's Day gift.”
Milo now gets to live on the beach in Brooklyn with Joanne, her daughter, three feline siblings and one big dog friend. The other boy kitty, Bo, has become Milo’s best friend, and the two spend evenings wrestling and chasing each other around the house.
Joanne tells us that Milo loves to sit in the window and just listen to the birds, the ocean and other
sounds. She says she sometimes can’t believe he’s blind, since he gets around so nicely.
She thanked us for taking Milo out on the mobile van and never giving up on him. We thank Joanne for giving Milo the love he deserves!
