Reina the Cat

After Reina (then Raina) had been in our care for far too long, we posted her photo and story on Facebook. Erin M. shared with us what happened next:

I was struck by Reina the minute I saw her picture pop up on my Facebook news feed. I had debated for a while about getting another cat to keep my Tommy company, but I had also worried about whether they would get along and what would I do if they didn't. My gut told me Reina was the one, but I wanted to be fair to both cats and myself, so I took a field trip to the ASPCA to meet her face to face.

She offered a big kitty stretch and came over to say hello. She was just as beautiful in person and immediately let me know that she was no pushover; I'd have to earn her trust, and I was up for the task. Three days later I went back to the ASPCA to bring the newest member of the family home.

It's been close to four months since Reina moved in. It took us some time to figure out her quirks and for her and Tommy to care for each other. But now they spend a lot of time chasing each other or napping near each other. Reina's latest pastime is sleeping in the bathroom sink—Tommy lies on the floor nearby.

Nothing happens in the apartment without Reina's approval and supervision. She screens all TV shows by sitting directly in front of the set (especially during movies). She helps on the computer by walking over the keyboard. And dinner is always prepared to a chorus of her meows.

I am grateful to the ASPCA for taking such great care of Reina until we could find each other. She has been a great joy to share life with.
