Since joining the ASPCA Partnership in 2009, Sacramento’s animal welfare partners—the City of Sacramento Animal Care Services, Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary, Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulation, and the Sacramento SPCA—have made it a top priority to increase their spay/neuter resources and find homes for thousands of needy animals.

Sacramento SPCA is an independent, non-profit organization established in 1894 to provide a safe haven for homeless and mistreated animals.

City of Sacramento Animal Care Services
Charged with caring for the public’s lost and sick animals, the City of Sacramento Animal Care Services also runs a successful adoption program and investigates cases of animal cruelty.
Adoption hours: Wednesday-Friday, noon-5:30 P.M., Saturday-Sunday noon- 5:00 P.M.

Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulation
A county-run shelter and animal control facility, Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulation also operates a humane law enforcement team as well as a volunteer program.

Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary
Founded in 1993, Happy Tails is an all-volunteer rescue organization “dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of homeless and abused animals throughout the Sacramento area.”
