NEW YORK, December 28, 2007The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) announces the arrest of Bronx resident Robert Tull, a suspect in the striking and killing of a four-and-a-half-month-old male cat in front of a building at 1581 Fulton Avenue, Bronx. The arrest, made by ASPCA Special Agent Patrick Breen, took place on December 17 without incident a short distance from the site where the cat had been cared for and fed regularly by building residents and employees.
On November 26, 2007, the ASPCA was notified of and began an investigation into the cause of the cat's death. The suspect, a 17-year-old, had been seen striking the cat with a garbage pail lid. Evidence showed the cat had been the victim of fatal trauma to his head and that he had been drowned.
The suspect has been charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty and faces up to two years in prison and a $2,000 fine.
