Ask the APCC: Carpet Shampooing Machines--OK or No Way?

I am planning on using a carpet shampooing machine in my home. Will this be safe for my ferret?

For example, if the label indicates that a product needs to be mixed with water before application, and the cleaned area needs to dry thoroughly before allowing pet traffic back in, these instructions need to be adhered to in order to avoid the potential for problems, such as skin irritation or gastrointestinal upset, from accidental exposure.
