Tell Us, How Does Your Dog Give Back?

dog with newspaperYou serve him kibble, play fetch and let him sleep with you. Of course, it's worth every cuddle and doggie breath-flavored encounter, but now you realize he returns your love with way more than slobbery kisses. Does he bring in the morning paper, or do a great job comforting your kids when they’re sick? Maybe he's the best babysitter you ever had, or he’s a visiting dog who brings sunshine into hospital wards and classrooms. Send us a photo of your little helper along with a description of how he or she helps out around the house or out in society at dogswhogiveback@aspca.org. We'll show off your pooch and his job resume on our website this October for Adopt-A-Shelter Dog Month.

We saved Drizzt and he gave us everything we could have ever wanted. He alerts us to any and all outside intruders or disturbances. He also is always up for a good "tussle", that always makes us smile and laugh. And at night he is a great heat source when he snuggles under the covers. All around he was a great addition to our house and hearts.

my dog, Dolores, gave back to my sister.
It was an ordinary day and then, a car hit my sister, Rachel. she had been SOOO fragile, that even a bump could tear her skin and bleed, and she could die. so when Dolores paid a visit to Rachel, Dolores became Rachels best friend. rachel had also gone deaf, so she alerts rachel. dolores even attempted to (haha!) teach rachel sign language.
sometimes, even, rachels heart stops in her sleep, so dolores has a way of jumping on rachels chest and starting it up again. once, rachel almost died. (dolores is a yorkshire terrier)dolores saved rachel.
dolores gives back by helping my disabled sister.
