Adoption Diaries: Keeping Up With the Kits

Elyse’s Adoption Diary:
So all the mushy stuff I said about mama cats and their beautiful love for their kittens? Their protective nature that makes them hiss when anyone comes near their babies? I guess that applies to their fierce instincts when they have newborns. Once the kittens are a few weeks old and can fend for themselves a bit better, mama is ready for a break!!

“All kittens here and accounted for? Great.”

“See ya!”

Once I, the kittysitter, showed up, mama was out of there faster than you can say “girls’ night out.” I feel you, mama. It’s nice to get a break, and then oh-so-nice to reunite with the babes!

This pooch didn’t have his name and info outside his kennel, so he must have been new. I could have held him all day. (And might have, if security guards didn’t drag me out when the building was closed that night. Kidding, kidding.) He was adopted quickly, of course. Selfish moi can’t help but be a little melancholy…sniff…I never even knew his name!

Hennessy reminded me of the pound dogs in Lady and the Tramp. Whenever a person approached, he put his paws on the glass and gave his cutest—and neediest—“come hither” pout. In the movie, the old-timers coach the newbies to do just that if they want to find a home.

Keeping tabs on Ghost? He’s the poor guy who fell from a fourth-floor balcony. Ghost is improving steadily. Just recently I saw him put weight on his front legs and stretch!

It was suppertime at the A, and Linda had a tough time deciding between a cuddle and food! She compromised; she stopped over for a quick belly rub and then ventured over to her dish.
