Volunteers, Spread the Love to Shelters on Thanksgiving

Shelter animals need you on Thanksgiving, too! If you’re already signed up to be a volunteer, won’t you please stop by your local shelter and walk a dog? What better way to burn the exorbitant calories from your feast! Word to the wise, though—cat socializers might want to play with the kitties before your meal so the poor felines aren’t taunted by the scent of turkey on your hands! We kid, of course—any time you can visit is great. Your furry friends will be oh so thankful. Hopefully, the animals you help will be celebrating Turkey Day with a family of their own this time next year. Now there’s a wonderful thought!

You will be thankful, too, when you return home to your own pets and give them a big squeeze. You may not want to let go all weekend.

Big shoutout to all you volunteers out there—we couldn’t do it without you. Lotsa love from the ASPCA. “Here's hoping that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by good friends and loving family,” says Beverly Pietrucha, CPDT, ASPCA Volunteer Coordinator.

P.S. Not a volunteer yet? This is the perfect week to sign up at your local shelter! Or you can help out by donating blankets, pet toys and extra food (call to see what else they need!).

Actually, I really want to be a volunteer giving more love to these cute little ones, but I think the blog I created also can do something for dogs. This blog shows both dog's situation in China and USA. If you care about dog or animal protection, please stop by and give me some comments. Thanks a lot!

I know this comment is a bit late, but please consider spreading the love to the entire animal kingdom by preparing a Tofurky over the holidays instead.
