53?? What? No Way!

“Home for the holidays” has been given new meaning. This weekend we broke our own record in cat adoptions—53 cats went home over the weekend! Many of them were older cats who often get overlooked for the young ‘uns. We attribute this successful weekend to our Free Over Three campaign. Cats three years or older were free—regular adoption procedure applied, of course.

Macy Harriet

Macy and Harriet are two of our long-time cats who now have a permanent residence!

What’s the mood like around the A right now? Tears, joy, celebration—and more happy words like that! Big kudos to our adoptions staff and volunteers who truly outdid themselves and brought love to a lot of lives, both furry and human.

So what does this incredible adoptions feat mean for the holidays? 53 families will have to move breakable ornaments to the top of their tree to make way for the prettiest “ornament” of all to sleep under the lights. 53 families will have to hide the holiday grub from thievin’ paws. 53 families will admire their beautiful gift-wrapping jobs only to have their bows undone and the paper shredded by their newest lovable rascal! And 53 families will learn what holiday magic really means—hearts will be full and households complete, thanks to the rescue of a homeless shelter cat. They won’t be able to imagine spending another holiday without kitty.
