We’re Totally Happy They Got a Dog, Though

So the Biden family bought a puppy from a kennel that had lots of, shall we say, issues. After we and so many others lovingly nagged Obama to adopt, too. Not that we’re 100% against going to a breeder, but if you do, please make sure you find a responsible one! Take a peek at our press release to find out just what we think of the soon-to-be VP’s pooch purchase. Hey, don’t you love that the world is paying attention to the pets who will be residing in D.C. come January? Pretty cool.

Read the ASPCA’s criteria for responsible breeding.

I don't believe your qualifying headline. With your chiding, very public press release, you've successfully added something political for Mr. Biden's detractors to use. The blogosphere can be an ugly place; yes, it's a big ugly game out there. I've discontinued all of my support to ASPCA.

It's a totally cheesy publicity stunt, and the dogs will be the losers. Look what happened to the poor dog that Bill Clinton polled the US to find out what kind he should get... Hit by a car. It's just a feel good political act. Shame on both Obama and Biden for using pets for popularity.

Frankly, all the judgment that has gone on by "special groups" and individuals who don't know the Bidens and have said nasty things, has done a diservice to our furry homeless friends. It was quickly forgotten all of the exceptional animal and human advocacy Joe Biden is involved with and has supported throughout his life and career (yes, from adopting shelter animals to vigorously advocating for children, women, and victims of atrocities in Darfur...one of the few politicians who actually visited the country to make a difference) as the comments in media and blogs has turned most people from our causes. The Bidens need not apologize. Nothing like preaching to the choir (they're already hooked) and forgetting to embrace those sitting on the fence. Angering people who feel any puppy for our new vice president is wonderful, especially for someone who has unselfishly served others his life, has not helped shelter animals. Any sudden support will fizzle. Human nature says judging will get you the opposite effect you desire. Why? because we all have done something others can judge harshly, and most of us already have parents. Mr. Biden is a wonderful soul, and didn't deserve this...nor did the K9 officer given the request to find the puppy, as Joe Biden is a great supporter of police, fire, etc. PETA, ASPCA and other good animal groups are continuing to be called names like animal terrorists. Sad.

It doesn't take much time to research individuals before attacking them, and ASPCA would have been wise to do just that. I love Joe Biden...the man and the elected official...he does innumerable great things for animals and humans alike. But, you could have, and should have, found out that and much more. Alas, my support for ASPCA stops, but my support of animals does not. I just sent my first $100 donation to Human Society Legislative Fund (Biden = A+) one of many. They wrote a good and balanced comment on Biden. Bless them for their intelligence and honesty of caring. I will encourage others to do the same.
