ASPCA Pet of the Week: This Spud’s for You!

Spud Speed is the name of the game for Spud! With the world as his playground, this one-year-old pit bull is content to have relay races all day long—with himself. Then watch him stop, sit and gaze at you calmly, as if to say, “What?”

He may be a Go Getter, but there’s more to Spud than an endless supply of energy. “He’s a very smart guy and has done a great job learning his obedience commands,” gushes Victoria Wells, ASPCA Manager of Shelter Behavior. You can also add “winner” to Spud’s list of redeeming qualities. “He won a ribbon in the Halloween costume contest at the park,” laughs Victoria. “He was dressed as raw sewage!” We’re so proud.

If you love to exercise and are looking for a best friend to keep up with you, Spud’s your guy. He loves other dogs, but no cats, please. Kids over 10 are OK. To meet Spud, please call the ASPCA Animal Placement department at (212) 876-7700, ext. 4120. To see other animals who are waiting for homes, please visit the ASPCA Adoption Center online.

P.S. Don’t just take our word for what Spud is all about—read our personal shelter interview with the dog himself!

I have indeed seen your sick commercials with Sarah, each time I see one I feel like vomitting. As a animal lover, and owner your ads are terrible. Each time Abi and I watch one on tv she howls and I groan. HOW DARE YOU TO EVEN IMPLY THAT AN ANIMAL'S LIFE IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN OUR SAVIOR. You overpaid nitwits need to get a life. Are you even aware that there are childern in our country who need help? Maybe when Baraka takes over the presidency and brings home his FDR socialist progams all of us will be saved, and don't forget wealthy, ha.

May God bless all of you and may he always keep our grate country free.

God bless America

Oh my! What an angry soul. I'm sorry for you. Better pray to your savior some more.

I am not quite sure what the Pet of the Week has to do with the previous post... I am also not quite sure what you are talking about with the new ASPCA commercial, how does it imply anything about your savior? The commercial is about helping animals in need. People need to see the plight of animals to raise awareness. I work in a shelter and see these horrors day after day and people need to know what they can do to help. Helping homeless animals is a very important cause and deserves just as much attention as other human rights issues. I do have "a life", just because my life is about animals doesn't make it less important. I also don't think anyone in animal rights issues is overpaid...
