The ASPCA is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case of four newborn kittens found with their throats slashed. An additional $1,200 is being offered by the Suffolk County SPCA, the local animal-protection agency leading the investigation.

According to Suffolk County SPCA reports, the bodies of the four kittens—estimated to be three weeks old—were discovered on October 1 in the parking area of a business in Riverhead, New York.

“This is a truly sickening case of violent, heartless abuse,” says Stacy Wolf, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA’s Anti-Cruelty Group. “We hope the reward offer sends a message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our society. We thank the Suffolk County SPCA for its commitment to finding justice for these four innocent kittens.”

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Suffolk County SPCA by calling (631) 382-7722.

Please be vigilant in your community and report suspected animal abuse. Visit our Fight Cruelty section to learn which agencies are responsible for investigating and enforcing anti-cruelty laws in your area.

Oh gosh, this is savage! I hope they consider eye for an eye when they catch this beast(s)

That is so sick. Some people have no care for anything or anyone but themselves. I really hope and pray that the reward does help bring forward the person that committed this horrendous act. Only cold hearted people do these types of things to innocent animals. Animals are living creatures and deserve to be treated with love and respect just like humans.

@DogRetrievers

No doubt this is horrific, but is this much different than what NYC Animal Control does daily? It's interesting how here this is abuse, cruelty, and a crime that offers a reward for information. Meanwhile the city employs someone who's job description is to kill kittens on a daily basis. The only difference is your tax dollars didn't go to slashing these kittens' throats.

As opposed as I am to shelters that euthanize animals, and as much as I hope to see the day when no-kill shelters are regulation, I doubt if I will live that long. Too many people think of animals as "things", something they can dispose of if they become too bothersome or cost too much to care for. They wouldn't get rid of their child if money was tight, or the child became ill (although there are some scum who would do that), but as long as they are irresponsible pet owners, there will be an overload of animals in shelters. The BIG difference between euthanasia and what this monster did, is the mind of the person who could do such a thing. Today he/she kills 4 innocent kittens, tomorrow it could be a child or some random stranger. People who kill animals "for the thrill of it", are deeply disturbed. Look at Dahmer, Gacy, W. Williams, and good old Charlie Manson, all of these men, along with dozens of more serial killers, started out by killing animals. That's the difference sir or madame. Big difference.

When they catch these sickos and convict them, can I have them for just a little while?

Fran

We need to create more animal abuser registers, like sex offenders. We should also get and keep first time offenders DNA on file, because you know they will offend again. They always do. It is a shame we can't put people like this away for life.

vivian

hope you can get the people how did this and put them in jail for life

I DO PROPERTY INSPECTIONS ON VACANT HOUSES AND THE THINGS PEOPLE DO TO ANIMAILS BLOWS ME AWAY ITS REALLY SAD I HOPE THEY CATCH THE PERSON WHO DID THIS

Tina

Those poor babies! This makes so sick! I feel also so sorry for the mama kitty! I hope they find this sick person or persons! I pray they are punished with the severest punishment how about life!!!!

This person needs to be found ASAP. A serial killer on the lose. If someone can do this to an innocent animal, just wait we will be hearing from them on the news. Were there any cameras in the area that can be looked at? This person needs to be put in a dark hole and covered until they die. Sick, sick, sick is the only work that comes to mind. Godless and soul less, a monster that must be sent to hell where they belong.
