This Thanksgiving, we have exciting news for shelter pets: the ASPCA has teamed up with Freekibble.com to provide 10,000 meals of Halo Spot’s Stew for animals in one lucky shelter this holiday season. Now through Sunday, December 7, you can enter our “Feed a Shelter” contest by telling us why you love your local shelter and by highlighting the impact your shelter has on your community. Freekibble.com will provide 10,000 meals of Halo pet food to the winning nominated shelter!
There are millions of homeless pets being cared for in shelters nationwide, and many will remain in shelters throughout the holidays. This Thanksgiving, we hope you’ll give homeless pets something extra to be thankful for! Enter the contest today, and spread the word on your social media networks by using the hashtag #feed10k and tagging @ASPCA.
As you can probably guess, we’re pretty big on shelter dogs. That’s why we’re thrilled that October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month (ASDM)!
Join us, along with co-hosts The Dodo (@dodo) and Domo (@domo), on Wednesday, October 15 from 7:00-8:00 P.M. EST to celebrate all things shelter dog during our ASDM Twitter Party and Giveaway!
This fun trivia contest will focus on famous dogs from pop culture (think Lassie and Rin Tin Tin) and we’ll be giving away prize packs every six minutes with a grand prize from Swiffer (@swiffer) and Alex and Ani (@alexandani)!
Don’t forget to RSVP here so you’ll be eligible to win prizes, and follow the hashtag #ASDMparty on Twitter to join the fun. See you there!
We’re excited to share the results of the first month of the 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge: In June alone, the Challengers saved a total of 21,175 animals’ lives! Competing shelters achieved this by adopting out or reuniting pets with their guardians. June’s impressive total was a combined increase of 4,311 over lives saved by the shelters during June 2013.
The excitement has just begun! The Challengers have plenty of time to get creative and save even more animals’ lives during July and August. Stay tuned as the action unfolds during the remaining two months of the Challenge.
It’s no secret that ASPCA employees are crazy about animals, so why should our own pets be any exception? Every year, we create a beautiful wall calendar for our friends and supporters using our very own furry friends as models, and as you can imagine, the competition is pretty fierce!
Our 2015 calendar is almost complete, but there’s still one very important decision to make: Whose adorable adopted companion should grace this year’s cover?
We’ve narrowed it down to four contenders, and we need YOU to help us choose a winner. Check out the photos that are in the running, read a little about these sweet, adopted animals, and then cast your vote for our 2015 Cover Dog or Cat. The pet whose photo gets the most votes will have his or her face in homes all across America!
As the Challenge began on Sunday, June 1, all 50 shelters worked to host special adoption events throughout the week. From California to Maine, adopters visited local shelters to show their support for the Challenge and went home with furry best friends of all shapes and sizes.
But the excitement is just beginning! Now through the end of August, support your local Challenge shelter as the contestants compete to break their own adoption records and save the most animals over the same period in 2013.
