In early January, a concerned volunteer with the City of Clarksdale Animal Shelter, made a call to ASPCA to inform them of the squalid living conditions and over population crisis at the shelter.

Brooklyn, New York—January 2010
The ASPCA conducted a critical intervention—rescuing 37 cats and kittens from a filthy, overrun, one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, NY.

Clewiston, Florida—November 2009
On November 16, more than 75 responders removed nearly 600 emaciated cats from the 10th Life Animal Sanctuary—the animals were found living in severely overcrowded wire mesh pens.

Memphis, Tennessee—October 2009
On October 27, more than 200 dogs and cats living in substandard conditions were seized from the City of Memphis Animal Shelter.


Queens, New York—August 2009
After a carefully planned intervention led by the ASPCA, 25 dogs were rescued from an animal hoarder in Queens, NY.

Cazenovia, Wisconsin—May 2009
The ASPCA assisted in the raid of animal sanctuary, Thyme and Sage Ranch, which held the animal control contract for Richland County, WI, and acted as the county's animal shelter.

Tarentum, Pennsylvania—March 2008
