SAVE A SPIDER DAY!
March 2007

Mark your calendars—March 14 is Save a Spider Day! If spiders gross you out, think twice. They aren't bugs, but arachnids. Spiders like to eat harmful insects who carry diseases and destroy crops. Without 'em, mosquito bites REALLY would bug you!

Here are some cool facts about our multi-legged friends:

- A spider’s skeleton is on the outside of his body.

- Many spiders digest their food outside their bodies. They inject their prey with venom and then drink them up as liquid. Slurp!

- Most spiders live for about a year, but the tarantula can live for 15 years.

- The silk that makes a spider's web is stronger than steel.
